Welcome to RC 1000, the class conceived by like-minded skippers to breathe life into quality racing in Plymouth and the south west, for IRC rated yachts close banded between 0.990 – 1.015 [with a small tolerance] and a minimum displacement of 3 tonnes. This translates into only 90 seconds an hour difference between the total fleet.
We take into consideration the complete package, quality racing, training and support both on and off the water for the whole team, not forgetting the social scene of course. In fact, we work together striving towards the best experience available
We compete over four weekend events with three to count for the Mayflower 400 trophy, awarded annually. Throughout the season the group will also from time to time informally choose to form a fleet competing in various events helping to promote quality racing in the south west.
We encourage boats from other ports to join the group to compete in single events or better still the series, we are also negotiating with local marinas to offer visitors to the port subsidised berthing costs during our race weekends.
Our four race weekends depending on weather conditions will be off committee boat start lines, inside or outside the breakwater and will usually include a windward leeward or sausage and a triangle , sprint round the cans and a medium distance offshore course. In future we will consider holding at least one of our championship scoring weekends in other ports in the South West. For more details go the Events page.
If you have or are considering buying a boat that could possibly fall into our banding or are interested in crewing opportunities please get into contact, you will find us on our contacts page and will always be very pleased to hear from you.
